Upgrades for my TJ
New to Jeepin', bought a 2000 Wrangler Sahara. I would really appreciate some feedback on what basic upgrades I should do. The only upgrade I can see is that it's lifted to accomodate for the 35 X 12.50 Pro-Comp mud terain tires. Looks like a 3" body & possibly some additional...?
I'm on somewhat of a budget so I'll do a little at a time. Would like suggestions on most important upgrades to start (axles, gears, etc...)...and so on. Thanks.

Hey fuzzy, welcome & good to have you on board-- to get better responses to your poser, I've moved this thread down to the Jeep Vehicle's forum (under Tech Talk) since that forum is where most folks look to give/get technical advice.
Thanks....need all the advice I can get
No prob; btw you might also want to create a MyRides profile for your rig to give people a better idea of what it looks like, what components you're running, etc so they'll have more background info on your rig and can give you more feedback (just click on "add" in the menu above).
You already have big tires. In general, a suspension lift is better than a body lift. However, you may have some suspension lift, too, if you have 35's under there. Do you have good tire clearance, or do your tires rub when they're stuffed up in the wheelwell? If they're rubbing, I'd look to re-configuring/adding to the lift in the form of a (different or more) suspension lift--especially if you can lose the body lift in the process.
What do you want to do, and what sort of streetability are you willing to sacrifice to get there? In terms of making it from one end of a trail to the other with no help from anybody, nothing beats a winch. I personally think that the best trail mod you can get (after aggressive tires) is a locker or lockers. These will, however, affect your street ride.
My best advice is to join a four wheel drive club and/or participate in four wheeling activities (such as Jeep Jamborees), and see what you like and what works on other people's Jeeps. Remember to compare apples to apples. That is, don't drool over a rock crawling rig unnecessarilly if you're going to be riding in a lot of mud. Yes, there will be some overlap, but you don't need the exact same setup. Hope this helps.
Regarding the lift: There are 4 ProComp shocks and one in the front (steering stablizer..?). The coil springs on the front are the same height as the tires, rear springs may be lower. I have the original Sahara fiberglass fenders and the minimum clearance between the fender and tire is about 5". I've never experienced "rubbing" but I don't offroad with it...YET.
I'll run the jeep offroad minimal (10-20% of the time), but I want to be ready when I do. The jeep steers and rides great, even at 70-75 MPH (no pulling, hopping, etc...).
I've been seeing & hearing that gears need to be changed to accomodate for these size tires, is this true...? If so, how come I haven't noticed any issues while driving...? also, what are "Lockers"...? Told ya I was a Newbie...LOL
Ok, this is probably cheating a bit, but, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locking_differential
