Stock jeep

Hi all,

My '01 Wrangler has the factory installed tow hooks front and rear. Are those acceptable for the Jeep Jamboree events?

re: Stock jeep

Yup, they're perfect. In fact, you whole stock Jeep is probably fine. I took my (then) stock '03 TJ Sport on our first Jam last year and we did absolutely fine.

Same question for a JK

Hi. I have the same question about a 2008 JK, especially with regard to tires. I'm planning on getting skids and the evap relocation bracket, but I don't know if I will get the tires changed out by then. I'm going on the Ouray jamboree which I believe is supposed to be less technical than the others. Anybody know if the stock JK Sahara (32" all-terrain tires on 18" rims) are sufficient for this Jamboree?

Stock Jeep

Pay attention to the skid plates you have - I recommend at least covering gas tank and oil pan/transmission - hard to fix on the trail.

Oil pan, transmission and gas tank

Anthony;

Your 01 TJ has a gas tank skid plate already. It isn't much, it will dent if hit, but it will protect your gas tank. The oil pan and transmission are exposed; however, proper wheel placement will put your tires on the rock and these items are tucked up high enough to have far less risk of damage than your gas tank.

Have fun!

Next to a dog, a Jeep, is man's best friend. Inside a dog, it's too dark to drive.

Skid Plates

Are the after market oil pan / tranny skid plates easy to install? Is it a simple bolt on process or do you have some other modifications to accomplish? I'm going to Palo Duro in May in my stock '05 TJ and the more I think about it I think I am gonna get one to compensate for my "rookiness". One more thing.......after the plate is installed does it have to be removed for an oil change or is the drain plug still accessible?

Stock '08 Unlimited Sahara

Along the same lines, I have an '08 Unlimited Sahara with the tow package and 6-spd. It is stock. I'm a first time Jeep owner (at last!) Is my JK ok stock as it is to do the Bethel Jamboree? Any recommendations? I have no desire to lift it to the moon and climb pine trees with it--just strap canoes to the top and go anywhere you need a 4WD to get to and camp and fish. Thanx for the help.
