Gas Question

We are going to stay at one of the hotels on I-40 right outside of Amarillo. It looks like maybe a 30-45 min drive to the canyon from there. I am driving a stock '05 Wrangler 6cyl and I would like to know if gas is going to be a problem..........for instance if I leave the hotel with a full tank can I do the trails all day long and still make it back to a station that evening. I can get a gerry can but I would have to have a bracket for it (if I had to). Can any of you guys tell me if I need to be concerned about running low on gas during the day on the trails. Thanks for any advice you can give.

The two time's I have been there I have not seen anyone run out of gas.What I do is fill up when I get off I40 and get ready to have some fun.

We always carry a 5 gallon extra per Jeep just to be sure. I have seen someone run out every year we have been there, and it was me one year!! Our motto is, "Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it!" You will not have a chance for gas after you get off of I-40 and it is 23 miles from I-40 to the Figure 3 Ranch. I would bring extra if it was me, better safe than sorry.
