Appalachian Murphy, North Carolina
Are there trails rated 2 -3 at the 25th Appalachian Murphy, North Carolina Jeep Jamboree?
I am concerned, This is my first Jamboree. I have a stock 2008 4x4 liberty.

redrock, you can get full trip details for any JJUSA trip by visiting their main site at http://jeepjamboreeusa.com/ and clicking on the "Register" tab there. But I've also included some of the info here in case it helps, so check out the following links:

I have been a trail guide for this Jamboree for a few years. We usually have what we call a 101 group, which I think we are doing this year as well. It's for folks who may not have a lot of experience driving off-road or their Jeep is mostly stock. This group has been as few as 5 Jeeps or as big as 25 Jeeps in the past. We run some trails that offer a good mix of fun, as well as provide a great way to see what the Jeep can do.
Thus to answer your question the lowest rated trail, is really the main road into the area, its a long gravel switch back road. Once you get off that you will be in 4wd low range the rest of the day. Hope that gives you a better idea. Its a wonderful area, and a great place to go with your Jeep. If ya have more question just let me know.
Redrock,
If you are having second thoughts on if you should go or not, I would go. I have been to tellico several times and you see vehicles ranging from old $5000 Cjs to customed jeeps with insanse tire size and suspension and fabricated rails. If you have kids I would bring them (if they are out of baby seats). Tellico has plenty of campsites, a river, and Murphy is a neat town. So, if you don't want to do some of the trails, there is plenty to do otherwise. If you want a second opinion on trail ratings, go to tellico4x4.com. This is a local 4x4 store and they have good trail info. You can also check out the Forest Service website but their trail ratings are a little off.
About the only easy trail is trail #1, which is a gravel road. It's got some rough places on it but its made for street-legal vechicles. If your Liberty had a mild lift and some good tires, I would say "YES" try a few trails. Trails #6,#5, maybe #4 and #3.... but they have their spots that are quite rough!! I can see lots of skid plate scrapping in your future.... if you try it.
