Anyone attend Killington #1 in 2007?

We are planning a vacation to the east coast this year and wondered if anyone who attended Killington#1 in 2007 would care to comment on the trails, the lodging you stayed at, etc. I notice the dates were in June in 07 and is 4 wks later in July for 08 - how was the weather?

Vermont JJUSA 2007

My buddy and I attended the 1st VT JJUSA and we thought it was great. Although the trails we selected were a bit mild for our liking, they were good nonetheless. The weather was perfect - 70-80 daytime low humidity; 40-50 night time. We camped at a nearby state campground, but the Killington Grand Resort Hotel is superb! This was the HQ for the event - very up-scale! Valet parking!! Although we will not be attending this year, I would certainly recommend it as (with al JJ's I've attended) they improve each time they are run. Hope you make it!

we attended last year,

we attended last year, stayed at the killington grand resort & hotel - very good accommodations for the price - the availability of the luggage carts to wheel your hard doors to your room for storage for the weekend was great!

trails were moderate but snowpack sticks around a long time at killington and as i understand it, this cut into the amount of time the host club had to perform trail cuts and maintenance - moving the trip further into the summer is intentional to allow more time for trail prep and the cutting of new and wider variety of trails. views up there are amazing and jeeps owned the entire mountain area for a weekend which was pretty nice. food was top notch. guides were excellent as usual.

for new england, i'd also suggest bethel maine jambo which is in the fall during peak foliage season - great trails from mild to wild. an experienced group who have been running the program up there for many years.

Vermont JJUSA2008

My now wife and I attended the 2008 Killington Jamboree. This was our first Jamboree and It was fun. I am very good friends with the VP of JJUSA though. We grew up in the same town so I am biased on the Jamboree. We stayed at the Killington Pico Motor inn. It was dated but the room was clean and the A/C worked well. It was very HOT when we went on the jamboree. July was very warm this past summer. The first day was good and the trails were good but it was hot. The second day was fun but it poured cats and dogs and rhinos. No big deal I had no wipers but I coated the windshield with rain-x so I was good. I had a lot of fun and we will do it again.

Killington VT JJ 2008

Redbuggy, I see by the date of your post (and mine) that we are right on top of the information flow! My wife and I were able to attend Killington 2008 last July, and it was great. We thought we may not get a spot, as we were on the wait list and found out 19 days before deadline. As you said, the weather was warmer than usual, and the rain and hail came down hard around noon on Saturday. Our group was down along a run-off in the woods, and took the rest of the afternoon to just get everyone out to the main trail. Our guides were fantastic, and if every-other Jeep had not had a winch, some may have missed the evening prize drawing! We stayed at the Grand Resort, and the room we had was very nice. Sat out on the deck in the evenings and watched the sun set over the mountains. Would also recommend this Jamborree for sure!
